about me

Andrew Parrotte, a Chicago native, graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Film and Video concentrating in Cinematography. Throughout his studies Andrew has gained hands on experience with both film and digital formats. Before graduating he helped out on ten of Columbia’s Practicum thesis films. After graduating, he has worked alongside such acclaimed Cinematographers as Peter Biagi, Johnny Derango, and Larkin Seiple.

His most recent feature length narrative film, “Scrooge & Marley“, has screened at numerous festivals throughout the winter of 2012 and in 2013. It is now screening annually at the Music Box Theatre near christmas each year. It’s a modern day adaptation of “A Christmas Carol.” It was shot in and around Chicago on the Canon 5D Mark II and featured notable actors such as Megan Cavanagh, Tim Kazurinsky, Rusty Schwimmer, and Bruce Vilanch.

Recent short form projects Andrew has shot recently include “Easy Abby“, “Hatboxes“, “The Half of Him That’s Me“, and “The Lion’s Den.”  Andrew has also shot and operated on various other projects including a music video for the songwriter Gehring Miller and an ongoing cooking web series, “Foodgasm”.

Andrew’s main focus is Cinematography, but to him that means a lot more than just how it’s defined. He is constantly admiring the light in his environments and duplicating it on the projects he shoots. Lighting isn’t the only thing he tries to succeed in, working well together with directors, producers, and other department heads in preproduction is just as important to him as.  Making sure all his bases are covered as they start to cross over into other departments helps him make better films in the end. He has been complimented many times over for his level-headed-ness in the heat of the action, and positive attitude throughout the entirety of production.

Andrew now resides and works as a freelance cinematographer in Los Angeles, California. He is more than willing to travel for work as well, including back to his home city in Chicago. Andrew can be contacted easily via his contact information or the contact page above.
